Week 6 - Exercises

The two quotes I used were “You can no more win a war than you can win an earthquake” from Jeannette Rankin and the second was from Abraham Lincoln “You have to do your own growing no matter how tall your grandfather was.” The first from Jeannette explains that the aftermath and casualties of war are akin with that of an earthquake, death and destruction is a mark of both, Similar to the quote “In war nobody wins”. The font of the text is quite old looking and shaken like it had actually been through an earthquake and the cracks in the background are my attempt at symbolising the text.
The Abraham Lincoln quote is displayed in the same matter that the text talks of, it starts from the top however most will look at it from the bottom up. The background text is my attempt at trying to create a city like environment replacing skyscrapers with the text.

Week 4 - Exercises

The two free photographic images I took off the internet (Google) were of a small very green Chinese garden and a Yellow flower surrounded by green leaves. The First (Yellow Flower) gets turned into a very cold pink and blue Flower surrounded by cold leaves of blue and purple with almost a sad/depressing look to it.

The Second picture (Chinese Garden) has been turned into a dry, hot, angry and dark scene leaving no trace of greenery to be seen at all.

Week 3 - Exercises

The two images I created in Abode Photoshop over the past week are a space solar system and a simple river crossing. The River crossing has design principles such as: Texture, symmetry, repetition, movement and its quite a calm scene with not much going on except for some cars crossing the bridge overlooking the calm river. The Solar system scene shows off quite a large amount and design principle wise it shows: Texture, repetition and great emphasis on the planets/Sun. I am quite fond of this work and really like doing planets/solar systems in my spare time so I thought this would be a good idea to do for my exercise.

Week 2 - Exercises

The two images I created in Abode Photoshop today were to very different things with one being a Calm city setting with hills in the background and the other as a strange space scene depicting large Mothership type shapes. My first image being the City scene has both a dark and a light feel to it, with the dark side being the city and all the buildings, roads, grey and black having a dull feeling to it whereas the hillside has more colour, with the sun right above it having a sunny/lighter feel. The space scene shows big oval type space ships descending upon a much smaller ship, with stars in the background of all colours to show it really is in a faraway location. This was actually something quick that I sketched up but it was something that I had in my head and want to expand on and recreate later on, with more colour and more ships.
