Week 11 Exercise
I used one of the fan made art covers for the HBO series
called Generation kill of the marine looking off into the distance, I took the
theme of the series’ story and turned into this illustration that you see now.
The marines/army set off to help Iraq and make them see America as a kind
nation however what happened there is up to many to debate but from the series
it showed that they pretty much did more harm than good to the civilian
populace. The colours I used are that from the Iraqi flag Green, White and
Black. Using the find edges tool to make the outline, and then fixing it up
with some precise erasing and redrawing, also the smoky cloud effect going on
around the marine and the flag affects the scene as well.
The “haunted” house I did was of an older house used by
people to today to live in but what it turns into however is quite different,
with all kinds of scary attributes attached to it the house takes a haunted
form. The red sky has taken over, rain is pouring down, the house is falling
apart bit by bit and blood frequents the walls.

Week 10 - Exercise
Original
Photoshop
The image before you is from quite a large amount of images, but with one main image the Intercontinental Times Square Entrance in New York, I hate Justin Bieber and decided to mount an attack on a building where he is performing live. Using masks, cutting, pen tool, Clone tool, multiple images, Film grain effect adjustment, Black and White adjustment and more…
Now for the argument on whether I believe it to be mine, I do not, it is a parody however the main image is only adjusted to fit the environment, most of is still intact and apart from a black&white/Film Grain effect it is much the same as it was.
Creativity wise there really isn’t that much to be honest, in the eyes of the law I guess the fact that it is a parody would protect me from being charged with any wrong doing, the images I have are free source including those from a video game whose developer was nice enough to release their games free. I have added a personal touch to this with my two favourite armies and a swat team as well to take down Justin Bieber while he performs at a concert. It is quite ethical as I have created a parody from many sources into one with the intent to produce some sort of comedy whilst showing what you can do with Photoshop and a dislike for a famous pop star, I would not mind people finding out that I created this and having to give me credit if they were to show it on their site etc.
Week 9 - Exercises
Well firstly I took a picture that I had of myself from about 2 years ago, placed it into my Photoshop folder and went to work, creating something that “I don’t even know”. The images I used were, clouds, my previous space scene work, road textures and of myself. I imagined myself in some sort of bubble or shield that had weird energy in the form of “Space Vines” surrounding it, the orbs of light from my eyes and right hand show that I had some weird power in this wacky scene.
I had two versions of this design both of which I like however the one of the right feels more finished than the other.
Week 7 - Exercises
I used two different of images of myself to work on and change around, first being me at my graduation in 2008 and the second being from earlier this year at my mates 21st birthday party. I found that cutting out the random man behind me would bring more focus to me in the main picture as well as brightening my background however I fear it made me look less tanned than I was. Made the room look a little darker because that’s how I remember it, I was going to increase how bright the light was behind me but it may have been the beer clogging my memory. I tried to make both the photos make me appear to be in some colourful event, the first being something formal and the second in some random nightclub of no description.

Week 6 - Exercises
The two quotes I used were “You can no more win a war than you can win an earthquake” from Jeannette Rankin and the second was from Abraham Lincoln “You have to do your own growing no matter how tall your grandfather was.”
The first from Jeannette explains that the aftermath and casualties of war are akin with that of an earthquake, death and destruction is a mark of both, Similar to the quote “In war nobody wins”.
The font of the text is quite old looking and shaken like it had actually been through an earthquake and the cracks in the background are my attempt at symbolising the text.

The Abraham Lincoln quote is displayed in the same matter that the text talks of, it starts from the top however most will look at it from the bottom up. The background text is my attempt at trying to create a city like environment replacing skyscrapers with the text.

Week 4 - Exercises
The two free photographic images I took off the internet (Google) were of a small very green Chinese garden and a Yellow flower surrounded by green leaves.
The First (Yellow Flower) gets turned into a very cold pink and blue Flower surrounded by cold leaves of blue and purple with almost a sad/depressing look to it.

The Second picture (Chinese Garden) has been turned into a dry, hot, angry and dark scene leaving no trace of greenery to be seen at all.
